At
the Legislative event, adult literacy students from across New York
State attended a workshop facilitated by Harold and Mary Bartlett, Literacy
New York Training Coordinator. In the workshop, students learned strategies,
shared ideas, and heard from student leaders: what it takes to be a
powerful advocate.
Following the workshop,
students (and tutors, staff, board members) met with their Assembly
and Senate representatives to advocate for an increase in Adult Literacy
Education (ALE) state funding.
